Dr. Yıldırım is experienced in working in multinational research groups (research groups at Leiden University Academic Center for Drug Research, Netherlands and Warwick University, Warwick Manufacturing Group, UK). Dr. Yıldırım also has experience in setting up new laboratories (Microfluidic Design and Characterization Lab. and Undergraduate Design Lab. at Cankaya University, Mechanical Engineering Department,Turkey). He is currently the co-PI of Micromanufacturing Lab. at Middle East Technical University Mechanical Engineering Department, Turkey.

Dr. Yıldırım have led and completed one national funded research project. He is currently leading 2 national funded projects. Dr. Yıldırım also took part in 1 international and 2 national funded research projects.

Dr. Yıldırım has hands-on clean-room experience exceeding 3 years on MEMS fabrication methods (particularly photolithography, physical and chemical vapor deposition techniques, wet and dry etching techniques). He is also experienced in micromanufacuring techniques (particularly hot embossing, ultrasonic embossing, and micromilling) for fabricating plastic miniature devices (e.g. lab-on-a-chip devices). Dr. Yıldırım is experienced in design of microfluidic devices and components (e.g. droplet based microfluidic systems for single-cell analysis, capillary driven microfluidic systems for analytical purposes, inertial microfluidic systems for rare cell detection, organ-on-a-chip systems, electrostatic and electromagnetic microvalves and micropumps ).
